💡 Why is the bill bigger than 650? The SAR 650 is only the Jawazat fee. On top comes the work permit (up to SAR 9,600/year, paid by the employer) and SAR 400/month for each dependent — a family of 4 (3 dependents) pays SAR 14,400/year in dependent levies alone!

Who pays the dependent fee — me or my sponsor?
By law the worker bears it (deducted or paid directly), while the work permit and the SAR 650 iqama fee are on the employer. Many contracts state this explicitly — check yours.
Can I renew the iqama for less than a year?
Yes — quarterly, half-yearly or 9-month payments are possible via SADAD, useful for spreading the cost.
What happens if renewal is late?
A SAR 500 fine the first time, SAR 1,000 on repeat, and possible deportation on the third. Renew at least 3 days before expiry.
What is the family visit visa fee?
